Free Registry Tuner can help you optimize your system’s registry by erasing unneeded references and keys. Cleaning Windows Registry has a positive impact on performance because it shortens the time the system takes to find necessary information about the installed applications.
Its interface is rather simple. In fact, it only takes clicking one button for the program to start scanning the registry. The program can address nine types of registry issues. These include deleting references to empty or non-existing objects and files, such as ActiveX and COM objects, autorun elements, shared files, programs, history values, application paths, unused file extensions, help files and font files. Though all these options are selected by default, you can uncheck the ones you do not want to be changed. Unfortunately, the program does not allow you to select only those items you would like to delete. Instead, you will only know about the type of errors found after they have been cleared.
Assessing the effectiveness of a registry cleaner is never an easy task. Firstly, a performance increase is not always noticeable, mostly when your computer was not in such bad shape before running the optimizer. Secondly, the Registry is a very sensitive area and messing with it may bring about undesirable effects, which are not always manifested in a short term. So, conscious that I was running a risk, I tested Free Registry Tuner. Fortunately, the scan and fix of a few errors did not cause any problems. I also checked if it had left unsolved problems behind by running CCleaner. Then, I could find that there were still some problems which Free Registry Tuner was not able to detect.
In general, Free Registry Tuner is an easy-to-use system optimizer. However, it features less functions than other similar software. Although it appears that it can be used safely, there are evidences that it may be unable to detect and fix certain issues.
